We have had a busy few weeks at Wildboar HQ, so gear up and grab a coffee…
Here is a little bit of an update on whats been going on!
Wildboar Midlands Youth open
Recently we hosted our latest midlands youth open and had 12 of our young lifters step out onto the platform. Some for the first time!
We had Scarlet, Kayleigh and Amelia compete in the U12’s group, all hit PB’s and most importantly loved their time on the platform! At this stage in their development its all about enjoying the sport and developing great technique.
- Amelia, Kayleigh and Scarlet receiving their medals after some great lifting!
Our second group was the girls. We had Libby, Mia, Nya and Melody step out onto the platform. Nya did an amazing job in her first competition, and the other guys all got themselves medals, doing an amazing job representing our club.
Last but not least we had our boys! Jake, Campbell, Jacob, Josh and Hayden all represented us out on the platform and all excelled in front of a home audience. Jacob was competing for the first time and excelled himself while Hayden in only his second competition made huge improvements on his total.
It was a great event and we are always pleased to host guys from all around the country.
Our next event is going to be on December 15th and we will be announcing that very soon!
Wildboar weightlifting announces first satellite club
We are excited to announce that we have secured funding from aActive Gloucestershire and gotten the green light to run our first satellite club at Five Acres High School!
We ran some sessions there last year as a trial/pilot of the program. They proved successful and we have now gotten the go ahead to run an after school club there for 14 young people every Friday. We are excited to bring weightlifting into schools within our local community and can’t wait to keep you all updated on its progress.
Youth S+C beginners group
We have just concluded our summer youth lifting course for our 11-13 year olds.
It was a great course with some really talented and nice young people. We have decided to continue these sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 5-6pm as we look to develop this group further.
Wildboar Olympic Lifting Academy/ Talent ID day
We are putting some plans together to launch our new Olympic Lifting Academy and we are going to be hosting a Talent ID day to identify new young people who we feel have potential to be successful within the sport!
We will be conducting some testing, giving an introduction to weightlifting, what the sport is about and what can be achieved.
Keep your eyes peeled for some dates as we move this further forward and create one of the most successful youth weightlifting teams in the country.

FSE partnership
We are excited this year to be working with students at the Forest Sport Education based in Lydney. We are currently providing Strength and Conditioning for their Football team and are enjoying having the chance to introduce them to all things strength training.
We will be conducting some testing over the next few weeks so we can collect some data for the students to see for themselves the benefits strength training can bring to their performance.
New sponsors
Finally a huge shoutout to Forest Sports Massage and ThisisGrip productions for coming onboard and helping us continue our growth!
We are so so grateful for all of our kind sponsors and it makes everything we do possible to have them support us in growing the sport we love by bringing weightlifting to more young people!
